Ensuring every child in Michigan has access to nutritious school meals isn’t just the right thing to do, it’s an investment in our state’s future. The American Heart Association, alongside a broad statewide coalition, is advocating to continue the $200 million investment in Michigan School Meals, supporting the health and academic success of nearly 1.4 million students.
The coalition is also urging lawmakers to reinstate funding for the 10 Cents a Meal for School Kids & Farms program, which helps schools serve more Michigan-grown foods while supporting local farmers. As the state enters the upcoming budget cycle, continued and stable funding is critical so schools can plan ahead and students don’t lose access to meals they rely on every day.
Join us in advocating for policies that help ensure every Michigan student has access to nutritious meals at school.

Take Action today!
Every child deserves to start the school day well-nourished and ready to learn. Luckily, last year the state made sure that all students have access free school meals. As high food prices continue to impact Michigan families, now more than ever, schools are an important source of nutrition and safeguard against chronic food insecurity and hunger.
Tell your legislators to help continue to ensure our children are hunger-free and ready to learn.
