Your Senator Can be a Champion in the Fight Against Stroke

Every 3 minutes and 14 seconds someone loses their life because of a stroke. Stroke is the 4th leading cause of death and a leading cause of long-term disability. These numbers are staggering, but many strokes can be prevented, and quick treatment can help someone survive.

The Stroke Act was recently introduced in the U.S. Senate by 11 Senators. The bill aims to improve stroke care and outcomes for patients nationwide.

The Stroke Act would support research to improve stroke care delivery, identify gaps in prevention and treatment, establish a national stroke registry and strengthen coordination across the continuum of care — from emergency response through rehabilitation and recovery. The legislation authorizes federal investments in research, data collection, systems improvement and public education to help ensure more patients receive timely, evidence-based care.

The Stroke Act is a relatively new bill. For it to become a law, we need more Senators to be champions for stroke patients and sign on as cosponsors. Ask your Senator to be a champion for stroke patients today!
