West Virginia Advocates Attend Hearts on the Hill!

October 27th and 28th, advocates from across the country came together for the American Heart Association Hearts on the Hill Fly-in. Several of these advocates were from West Virginia!

Advocates like Gryffin Cavender and his mother, Leigh, attended the fly in to have meetings with legislators. Gryffin experienced a sudden cardiac arrest in his classroom and now advocates for others. They met with the offices of Shelly Moore-Capito, Rep. Riley Moore, and Rep. Carol Miller to discuss funding the HEARTS Act, which was passed into law in 2024. While the law was passed, it still needed funding. These advocates shared their stories with the legislators about why the issue is so important to them.
