Virginia Healthy School Meals for All: Building Momentum for 2027

During the 2026 legislative session, our Virginia Healthy School Meals for All campaign, to guarantee no-cost healthy school meals to all students regardless of household income, made significant progress thanks to strong advocacy efforts! While both bills were ultimately carried over to the 2027 session due to budget concerns, the momentum remains strong.

Looking ahead, SB 4 and HB 96 will return in 2027. Senator Roem will continue leading the effort in the Senate, and we are identifying a new House champion. Our focus will be securing passage and funding during the 2027 legislative session, with support from lawmakers and the Governor.
