Victory! Cardiac Emergencies Bill Signed into Law
We are thrilled to share exciting news: Governor DeSantis has officially signed House Bill 1607 into law — a major step forward in protecting students and increasing cardiac arrest survival rates in Florida schools.
Thanks to this new law, all public schools, including charter schools will now be required to:
• Create cardiac emergency response plans with clear steps to reduce death from cardiac arrest.
• Have at least one well-maintained, accessible AED.
• Provide basic first aid, CPR, and AED training, including hands-on practice, for middle and high school students.
This achievement would not have been possible without Heart Powered advocates like you. Your calls, emails, personal stories, and encouragement to others to join the cause made a real difference. This law stands as a tribute to the loved ones we’ve lost, a voice for those we’ve been fortunate enough to save, and a promise to protect others in the future.
Thank you for being part of this life-saving movement!
