That’s a wrap on Missouri’s 2025 Regular Legislative session!

The Missouri Legislature has wrapped up the 2025 Regular Legislative Session! Thank you for using your voice to support policies that make Missouri a healthier place. Here is an overview of important issues we worked on this year, and a sneak peek at what’s coming next.

Chain of Survival Policies
Cardiac Emergency Response Plans (CERPS) – SB 68
The Missouri Legislature passed the implementation and requirements for CERPs! The Department of Health and Senior Services awarded $2 million to the Missouri Emergency Medical Services Association (MEMSA) to support schools in creating CERPs and equipping them with AEDs. In schools with AEDs, approximately 70% of children survive cardiac arrest – seven times the overall survival rate for children, and now schools in Missouri will have them. A big thank you to all who advocated for CERPs – you are making a difference and saving lives!

Tobacco Control
Preemption
This year, there was an attempt by Big Tobacco to deregulate the industry once again by preventing local governments from enacting new tobacco control laws in the future. Thanks in part to your advocacy, we were able to stop Big Tobacco and continue to protect the public from the toll of tobacco on health.

Healthy Eating Policies
Nutrition Security
Ensuring families have access to healthy food is critical to preventing heart disease. In an exciting win for childhood nutrition security, the legislature continued funding for Missouri SuN Bucks, a newer program to help families buy food for their school-aged children during the summer months of June, July, and August.

Access to Care Policies
Junk Insurance
Lawmakers voted to allow companies to offer junk insurance plans that have no patient protections and can discriminate based on pre-existing heart conditions. Next year, we will continue to prioritize protecting comprehensive healthcare coverage.

It was a very busy session, and your advocacy had a real impact on making Missouri a healthier place. Today we celebrate our successes and look ahead to all the vital work we can do to change the future of health in 2026!
