Testifying for a Healthier Tomorrow: Suhaas Reddy-Bonkur Calls for a Tobacco-Free Future

Recently, Georgia State Advocacy Committee member and long-time advocate Suhaas Reddy-Bonkur returned to the Gold Dome—this time to testify before the House Study Committee on the Costs and Effects of Smoking.

Suhaas shared his personal experience as a young person targeted by vape companies and spoke candidly about the toll vaping has taken on his peers’ health. His testimony was powerful and well-received, with one committee member noting, “The American Heart Association has a great volunteer on their hands!”

This wasn’t Suhaas’s first time speaking out. He began advocating for tobacco policy change while still in high school, and we were proud to spotlight his early efforts in this profile. Now, as a college student, he is continuing to use his voice to push for a healthier future for all Georgians. Read more about the hearing HERE.
