Planning for 2026

With the 2025 session behind us it’s time to start our planning for the next year! We’re gearing up for the 2026 legislative session, as well as looking at our community level policies to determine where we can make progress.

Some of the work we are planning includes building on our educational efforts in the 2025 legislature to move forward our Cardiac Emergency Response Plans, working with Emergency Medical Services as they transition to management under the Idaho Military Division to include Telecommunicator CPR, and moving our tobacco goals forward for statewide smoke-free legislation and tobacco retail license goals. We will also be working with our coalition to continue defending and protecting Medicaid and SNAP programs, and determining the ways any Federal changes will impact implementation and fulfillment of our policy goals at the state level.

We’re also working with volunteer leaders, internal teams, and community partners on determining where we are able to work at the local level to advance our efforts as we adjust to some of the preemptive measures passed by the 2025 legislature. We’re looking forward to building momentum as we strive to meet new goals and see where we can move American Heart Association policy to help make a healthier Idaho!
