Pennsylvanians celebrate! Cardiac Emergency Response Plan goes to the house floor!

February, 5 2026

Important update from Harrisburg!

The PA House Education Committee voted yes on legislation requiring cardiac emergency response plans in all schools and athletic events.

What’s at stake?

Kyri Hall was a normal 14 year old, playing a scrimmage game of basketball at school. It was a normal day – until his mom got a call. Kyri had experienced a cardiac arrest while playing basketball. There was no plan in place or AED available so help was given too late. Unfortunately, Kyri didn’t make it. We cannot let this happen to other families.

A cardiac emergency response plan can increase survival rates by 50% or more through a coordinated, practiced response plan where individuals and teams are trained and empowered to administer lifesaving care until EMS arrives. In schools with AEDs, approximately 70% of children survive cardiac arrest—seven times the overall survival rate.

Now this bill moves to the House floor for a full vote. If the House votes yes on this legislation, it heads to the Governor’s desk to be signed! We are just 2 steps away from safer Pennsylvania schools!
