Patient Advocates and Researchers Rally for Medical Research in Nation’s Capital
October, 3 2025
Recently, volunteers from the American Heart Association’s Scientific Councils joined more than 400 advocates for the 13th annual Rally for Medical Research in Washington, DC. With the goal of making funding for the National Institutes of Health (NIH) a national priority, patients, researchers, and medical providers joined together and visited more than 200 congressional offices to discuss the importance of supporting biomedical research and the consequences of disruptions and cuts to NIH funding.
Recent projections show that 61% of the U.S. population will live with the challenges of cardiovascular disease by 2050. If we want to continue the progress we’ve made in heart health in this country, we need to continue to study new treatments and medications that can improve health outcomes for everyone.
The Rally for Medical Research continues to be a powerful reminder of the power of patients, scientists, and advocates working together to ensure that medical research remains a national priority.
