Celebrating National Walking Day in Colorado with Gov. Polis

April 6, 2026

The American Heart Association Denver team laced up its shoes and stepped outside on April 1 to celebrate National Walking Day, coming together for a walk that underscored the simple power of movement and community. The team marked the occasion with a walk around the Colorado State Capitol, joined by Colorado Gov. Jared Polis.

A walk can do more than just get your body moving. It can be a simple way to clear your head, take a breath, and care for your overall well-being. Moving your body, even in small ways, can help lower stress, lift your mood, and support mental and physical health. National Walking Day offers a chance to move together. Whether it’s a short walk around the block, a stroll during your lunch break, or time outdoors with friends, every step can help ease stress, refresh your mind, and support a healthier, happier life.

Thank you, Gov. Polis, for reinforcing the importance of physical activity and healthy communities in Colorado by celebrating National Walking Day with the Denver American Heart Association team.
