Advocacy, Actually
The holiday season is here, and like many of you, we’re baking cookies, watching holiday classics (yes, Love Actually is on repeat!), and soaking up all the festive moments with family and friends. Before we know it, the new year will arrive – along with Florida’s 2026 legislative session.
In the spirit of Love Actually, we want to pause and say something simple but powerful: THANK YOU. Thank you for sharing your stories, your voices, and your passion this year to improve health for all Floridians.
🎥Watch our special video on Facebook starring one of our incredible Florida Advocacy Committee members, Jana Bonassi (thank you again, Jana!).
Looking Ahead
And just like the movie reminds us that love is all around, so is the opportunity to make a difference. We hope you’ll advocate with us in 2026 so that, by the end of next year, we can say we made this happen:
- More Florida schools ready for cardiac emergencies: Support funding to help schools prepare to respond to cardiac emergencies. This includes creating Plans for Urgent Lifesaving School Emergencies (PULSE) and teaching hands-on CPR skills to middle and high school students.
- More Floridians monitoring blood pressure at home: Support Medicaid coverage for self-measured blood pressure monitoring devices to help patients track their blood pressure at home and improve long-term outcomes.
- More support for heart disease and stroke prevention: Advocate for state funding for state public health programs that help prevent heart disease, stroke, and related risk factors.
- More Floridians breaking free from tobacco: Secure sustainable funding for state tobacco prevention and control programs, with investment levels that meet or exceed CDC-recommended thresholds to maximize impact.
- More families covered by affordable health care: Close the coverage gape for more than 315,000 Floridians who earn too much to qualify for Medicaid but too little to afford coverage through the Affordable Care Act (ACA) marketplace.
Because advocacy, actually … is all around.
Together, we can make these priorities a reality. Let’s create a healthier Florida in 2026.
