Delaware Legislative Update

After a long legislative session that stretched into the early hours of July 1, the Delaware General Assembly has officially adjourned.

Thanks to the dedication of advocates like you, we made important progress on several priorities—we’ll highlight two of them here.

🍎 Double Up Bucks Program Created and Funded

One of our biggest victories this year was securing funding for Delaware’s first-ever Double Up Bucks Program.

The new program helps Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) participants purchase more fresh fruits and vegetables by matching eligible purchases, effectively doubling their purchasing power for fresh produce.

This will make healthy food more accessible, supporting better nutrition and overall health.

🌟 Investing in Early Childhood Education

The state made a one-time $8 million investment to expand access to high-quality early childhood education. The initiative supports growth in the Early Childhood Assistance Program (ECAP) and strengthens coordination of childcare investments across the state.

This will give children a strong start, supporting healthy development and well-being.
