Advocate Spotlight: Adeline and Alessandra Dinin

When Adeline Dinin was just one day old, doctors discovered she had Long QT Syndrome, a rare heart rhythm condition that can lead to sudden cardiac arrest. Growing up with the condition has given Adeline and her family a unique perspective on the importance of CPR, AED access, and being prepared before an emergency happens. Today, Adeline rarely goes anywhere without an AED nearby and uses her voice to help others learn lifesaving skills and raise awareness about heart health.

As Adeline grew older, sharing her story became a family mission. Through community events, speaking opportunities, and her social media platform, @AED__Girl, Adeline helps raise awareness about heart conditions and encourages people to learn CPR and know where AEDs are located. For her parents, Alessandra and Aaron, advocacy is a way to help other families feel empowered and prepared. Their goal is simple: to make sure more people understand that cardiac emergencies can happen to anyone and that being ready can save a life.

That passion for preparedness led the family to support the Smart Heart Act, which aimed to improve cardiac emergency response in North Carolina schools. For Alessandra, the effort aligned with what their family has long believed: every child deserves to be in an environment where adults know how to respond when seconds matter. Whether speaking with lawmakers or sharing their story publicly, the Dinins continue to use their experiences to educate others and advocate for safer communities.
