Tell Congress to Restore Funding for SNAP in the Farm Bill 📧

As Congress works to update the farm bill, there’s a real opportunity to make healthy food more accessible for millions of people—and that matters for heart and brain health in communities across the country.

Historically, the farm bill includes critical anti-hunger and nutrition programs that support children, older adults, people with disabilities and those with chronic health conditions.

The House is going to vote on a farm bill this week that does not restore the drastic cuts made last year to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) or nutrition education. Millions of people rely on these programs to afford groceries and make healthier choices, and restoring this funding would strengthen access to nutritious foods.

Access to healthy, nutritious food plays an important role in supporting heart and brain health. As lawmakers move forward, Congress has a tremendous opportunity to craft a farm bill that puts health first by restoring funding for SNAP and nutrition education and rejecting provisions that will make it harder for people to access healthy food.
