STEM Goes Red: Empowering the Next Generation of Innovators
The energy was electric as 100 bright young women from six central Indiana high schools gathered for a day of inspiration, innovation, and empowerment at the annual STEM Goes Red event. Hosted with the mission of encouraging more girls to explore careers in science, technology, engineering, and math, the event proved to be a vibrant celebration of curiosity and potential.
Each session showcased a unique side of STEM, from hands-on experiments to real-world applications led by professionals. Our friends at the Marion County Health Department turned science into something sweet—literally. The girls rolled up their sleeves and dove into the chemistry of food science by making their own ice cream. Delicious!

Throughout the day, the girls asked thoughtful questions, collaborated with peers from different schools, and shared their dreams of becoming engineers, doctors, coders, and researchers. It was inspiring to witness their enthusiasm and to be part of a movement that’s actively reshaping the future of STEM.
Events like STEM Goes Red remind us that when young women are given the opportunity, encouragement, and resources to explore STEM, they rise to the occasion with brilliance and boldness.
Here’s to the next generation of innovators. The future is bright—and it’s powered by girls.
