Summer Recess & Legislative Progress
As legislators prepare to head home for summer recess, a month-long break during the legislative session, we want to take a moment to reflect on the progress we’ve made and share an update on the work you helped make possible.
California passed the state budget, which included funding to restart the CalFresh Fruit and Vegetable EBT program, bringing fresh produce to Californians who need it most! As well as expanded funding for Healthy School Meals for All, ensuring all students in California have nutritious meals during the school day!
We’ve also been hard at work advocating for important legislation to help build a healthier CA, including:
- Senate Bill 764, which requires chain restaurants to offer at least one children’s meal that meets expert nutritional standards,
✅ Passed the Assembly Health Committee on Tuesday, July 8, and is now heading to the Assembly Appropriations Committee! - Assembly Bill 573, which provides the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA) with additional resources to support flavored tobacco product seizure and enforcement operations,
✅ Passed the Senate Health Committee on Wednesday, July 2, with unanimous support, and the Senate Revenue and Tax Committee on July 9! It is now headed to the Senate Appropriations Committee!
Thank you for your support and we will be in touch with more information and opportunities for action!
