Take Action – Encourage the Ohio Senate to fund health!

The Ohio House released their budget, and we are disappointed they removed health policies that were in the Governor’s proposal. However, we still have time to work with the Senate to make sure these programs are funded.

Take action today and encourage your Senator to support funding healthy programs!

We are requesting the Senate focus on funding a few impactful programs:

Vapor Retailer Registry program. This registry is crucial for enforcing already-enacted law, which targets retailers selling to underage Ohioans, by enabling compliance checks and ensuring retailer accountability.

Provide continued funding of the CPR training requirement in all Ohio schools. Not only will it ensure that over 100,000 students are trained in this life-saving skill, but it is also critical to improving Ohio’s bystander CPR rate, currently ranked 3rd lowest in the nation at 30%. We request an appropriation of $606,800/year to provide schools with the necessary resources for compliance.

Please re-fund the Tobacco Use, Prevention Fund program at the Governor’s proposed level of $10 Million a year. This program is essential to help Ohioans quit tobacco and will decrease Ohio’s top-ten smoking rate.

Fund the Cardiac Arrest Registry to Enhance Survival (OH CARES). This registry, collects vital data from EMS agencies on cardiac arrest cases, enables the Ohio Department of Public Safety and EMS to improve protocols and survival rates.

Finally, the House is poised to appropriate $1M per year to the Produce Perks program. This program is a $1-$1 match for participants in the state to use at participating farmers markets and independent grocers. We know that Produce Perks can only partner with as many retailers as their funding allows and we encourage the Senate to add another $1M/year to allow Produce Perks the ability to expand their partnerships across the state.

Join us today to encourage your Senator to fund the health of Ohio!
